JR Tokai Begins Construction of Shinagawa Terminal Station for Maglev Bullet Train

Central Japan Railway, or JR Tokai launched on January 27 construction of Shinagawa Terminal Station for Japan’s first maglev bullet train linking Tokyo and Nagoya with completion expected in 2027. The southern section will be built by a joint venture of Obayashi, Toa and Kumagai, while the north has been awarded to a joint venture of Shimizu, Meiko and Sumitomo Mitsui. The contractors will construct the station 40-meter deep underground of the existing station for the bullet train, excavating 450 meter long with width of 60 meter. (2016/01/28)
