Sumitomo Mitsui Construction Breaks Ground of Vietnam’s longest Bridge

Sumitomo Mitsui Construction Corp. Ltd. announced February 18 that it has been awarded a 36 billion yen contract jointly with two local contractors to build the nation’s longest bridge and connecting roads totalling 15.6km long in North Vietnam. The work is expected for completion in 36 months.


A joint venture of SMC, Truong Son Construction Corp. and CIENCO4 broke ground on February 15. The 5.4 km bridge is a part of the planned highway linking Hanoi and under development Lach Huyen Port, the country’s first PPP project funded by Japanese ODA. The ceremony was attended by leaders and officials of the two nations including Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and President Yoshiyuki Norihisa of Sumitomo Mitsui. (2014/02/19)
