The special committee of Japanese ruling party LDP will develop proposals for expanding export of septic tanks, a part of small sewage system for households. As more and more developing countries are aware of water environment significance, the number of the exports is on the rise. The proposals will identify problems and countermeasures with an aim to promote Japanese businesses overseas.

Three major makers of tanks Kubota, Daiki Axis and Fuji Clean attended the committee on February 7, reporting situations of their overseas business, while the environmental ministry explains the government’s policy targeting at Asian markets.

The number of exported tanks in 2016 is likely to increase to more than three thousand from 56 in 2013 according to the ministry. Several public and private partnering projects are underway in such countries as Indonesia and Malaysia. As copy products of poor quality are found in overseas markets, the companies suggested that the government promote export of the products packaged with the system to encourage wider spread of the tanks under the scheme of official development assistance.
