Japan’s Tallest Building “Abeno Harukas” Opens in Osaka

Japan’s tallest building, 300-meter “Abeno Harukas” is fully open in March 7 in Osaka. The multi-purpose complex of 212,000 m2 total floor space is officially completed after the 4-year period of construction. Osaka-based Takenaka Corp. is in charge of design and construction works, while Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects designed the exterior of the building. Okumura Corp., Obayashi Corp., Dai Nippon Construction, and Zenitaka Corp. were also members of the contracting joint venture.


The owner of the building Kintetsu Corp., a railway operator held the opening ceremony on the day. President of Kintetsu Tetsuya Kobayashi said he hoped the high rise will contribute to Osaka’s growth. The 60-story complex houses Kintetsu’s flagship department store, offices, a museum, and high-end Marriot Miyako Hotel. The observation decks on the 58th-60th floor are open to public, where visitors can enjoy the city view 300 meters above ground. (2014/03/10)
