Japanese government has started consulting service for local municipalities considering infrastructure export. Contact person in charge of every sector such as water, sewer and waste treatment are listed in the website of the Cabinet Secretariat, which can accept comprehensive inquiries. The government considers expanding the service to private sectors, which cooperate with local governments in infrastructure business overseas.

The administration reported to the Ministerial Meeting on Strategy relating Infrastructure Export and Economic Cooperation on March 6. Local municipalities possess track records in management of utilities such as water and waste treatment, which works in their favor when winning orders of infrastructure building in developing countries.

It is considered the private businesses can benefit from collaborative works with municipalities. The government intends to enhance matching business between local governments and private companies. (2014/03/10)
