A pair of 5.5km tunnel excavation on Yokohama Loop Expressway North Route was completed. Metropolitan Expressway Corporation commissioned the work to a consortium led by Obayashi Corp., which will now undertake construction of related facilities and the unfinished elevated section, aiming to finish in 2016.

The North Route connecting Metropolitan Expressway Kanagawa No.1 and Daisan Keihin Road, or Tokyo-Yokohama No.3 Highway will have four-lane 8.2km expressway to be built at the cost of 338.7 billion yen. Two slurry-shield machines, called Nappy and Coppy, started tunneling in 2010, excavating from each side. (2014/03/12)
