New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) and a private-public collaborative body, Global Water Recycling and Reuse Solution Technology Research Association (GWSTA) have jointly developed new water treatment system enabling more than 30% more energy efficiency at lower cost.
Integrating water desalting and sewer recycle technologies, the organizations practiced a demonstration of the new system at the plant in Kita-Kyushu City. The 5-year experiment turned out successful achieving 30% less energy use and cost reduction compared to the existing system. Processed water was used for industry and agriculture.
NEDO expects Japanese companies that wish to expand their water business abroad to apply the technology. GWSTA comprises public agencies and private sectors including Hitachi, Toray, and Suido Kiko. (2014/03/13)
