Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism is targeting Laos in exporting Japanese advanced tunneling technology. The country plans to rehabilitate a national highway in the mountainous region. At the seminar to be held in March 18 in Vientiane to discuss road technologies, Japanese top builders such as Kajima Corp. and Nishimatsu Corp. that accompanies the Ministry will propose to the Laos government their excavation technologies. Japanese public and private sectors will cooperate in promotion to win orders.
The potential target is improvement project of Lao’s national highway No.12, which plays a crucial role of the East-West distribution corridor in the Mekong region connecting Hanoi, Vietnam with Bangkok, Thailand. A 20km-section near the Vietnamese border runs through the mountainous area that causes frequent delays in transport. Japanese advanced tunneling technologies are expected be effective in the project. (2014/03/17)
