Japan Federation of Construction Contractors announced its action plan for promotion of female craft workforce participation in construction industry. It aims to double the number of female craft workers in five years by measures such as recruiting female candidates, preparing comfortable working environment for women, and increasing the number of female site managers.

The internal committee has discussed the topic since last year to enhance the industry’s advantage and to secure the future workforce. The action plan includes practical approaches such as publicizing the industry welcoming women, improving work site condition, flexible working hours and increasing the number of women in management level.
