Tokyo-based hotel and restaurant operator Ryumeikan will open a Japanese traditional tea ceremony-themed hotel next year in Minato-ku, Tokyo. The interior and façade of Hotel 1899 Tokyo was designed by Gensler, one of the largest global architectural practices. The contractor Obayashi has undertaken construction with opening scheduled in December 2018.
The nine-story 63-room hotel with 2,400m2 total floor space will stand near Shimbashi Station with an restaurant serving Japanese maccha green tea and pastries on the first floor. The interior was designed under the concept of modern interpretation of the traditional tea culture. (2017/12/13)
